A Song In My Heart...

Mary J Blige is my favorite artist. I love her gift! She has such a soulful voice and I can always sense her spirit through her songs. I’ve been a fan of hers since I could remember, however I particularly enjoy the most recent albums of hers; the albums that show how much she has grown and pushed past all of her brokenness to become who she is today. How she’s ‘Stronger’ and ‘Just Fine’ regardless of what others may say. Mary is a prime example of how God can use your past hurts and pains to help others and in return help you grow as a woman. Would there be a “Mary” without all of those experiences? What would she sing about? I don’t know. There is a Mary that sings from her heart, that knows how far God has brought her, and understands where it can take her? Does she have to be a Gospel singer or declare she has a ‘ministry’ to share and speak into ones life? I don’t think so. Is she perfect? Not on her own. She like the rest of us has to continually seek God for her life and her perfection. But that’s not really my point. My point is that she has a song in her Heart and I strongly believe that we all have a song. Along with the song in her heart she has a beautiful gift to express it through actually singing it to the world. Now I’m not saying we should all go out and try to record an album. Because Lord knows some of us including myself would get laughed out of the recording studio. But just like Mary we are also blessed with a gift to communicate our song God gave us. We have our personal experiences, our share of hurts, and our own broken areas. I encourage you to take some time to listen to the song in your heart. Understand the ‘lyrics’ of your life and ask God what your gifts are and how you can use them to express your song to others and help you grow through it.

Thank you for allowing me to encourage you as I encourage myself!

Lord I pray for the woman reading this today. I ask that you reveal her own song that you’ve placed in her heart. Allow the lyrics of her song to be placed on repeat as she allows you to heal the wounds of her heart at the same time. Comfort her and give her full understanding throughout this process. Help her to forgive herself as well as others. Lord receive the glory!

Psalm 96:1 Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Finding my Healing...

I wanted to express my thoughts regarding the video that I shared “All my Devotion was Emotion” by Blair Wingo. I was extremely blessed when I stumbled upon what I call a true art for the Lord. Passion for Christ is saying the least. There’s a lot to be said about this clip, however what really sparked my interest the most is when she referred to the woman in the bible with the issue of blood. I’m sure you have read or heard the story. I sure have countless times; still I am grateful for her revelation of the word.

Mark 5:25-29 A certain woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things by many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse, having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd, and touched his clothes. For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.” Immediately the flow of blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.

Blair says in the video: Had the woman with the issue of blood never would have acknowledged her issue then she never would have broken through the crowd, received complete deliverance, and been completely turned around. Furthermore, if we now pretend to have no sin, than we will never touch him. We will never touch his hem.

Seldom do you hear this passage explained outside of the message of Faith. This is why I’m so excited about her statement since I believe it is one of the key components to receiving Gods healing and becoming the woman he called you to become.

First the fact that she acknowledged her issue is huge. That’s often not the case. She was probably filled with so much guilt and shame that I know it took a lot for her to gain the courage to make her way through the crowd and reach out for Jesus to simply touch the hem of his garment. I imagine the crowd for us would be the naysayers and critics, those who’ve hurt us and whom we’ve hurt, our family and friends. We often go on daily with those deeply hidden hurts and pains, shame and guilt’s; hurting those we say we love in turn living a life that is unhappy and can’t possibly be pleasing to God. Until you take the first step like she did and acknowledge those issues and broken areas that God wants to heal then you will continue to live unfulfilled.

So she acknowledged her issue. Great! But the bible says that she suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. That sounds familiar. We try so hard to deal with our own issues instead of taking them to Christ (the true doctor) to receive healing. We date the wrong guys, sometimes several wrong guys at one time; indulge in material things to make ourselves look and feel better and fill the emptiness, depend on others, allow ourselves to be used and abused and a myriad of other wrong ways to deal with those issues only to find ourselves worse than we started.

The scripture said having heard the things concerning Jesus she came up behind him and touched his hem. That’s interesting to me. She only heard about Jesus and what he could do. I know him and what he’s done for me. You know him and what he can do for you. He has blessed us to get married, jobs and cars, houses, babies, degrees, careers, so on and so forth many of the things we need and sometimes want. But without healing our lives, those are just things! He wants to heal the hurts from the past. What your mother and father did, or didn’t do, what people said about you (your skin color, weight or even your look), the generational curses, the pain of the divorce, abuse, and so much more. God desires for you to be healed so that you can receive what he has planned for you and to minister to others.

A good exercise is to ask God to help you identify areas where you need to be healed so that you can fully acknowledge your issues. Allow him to work on those issue so he can heal you. He will! God Bless.

Thank you for allowing me to be an encouragement to you. I Thank God for his gift and pray that something that I have said today has touched your heart and will allow you to seek God even more.

You, Her, Him

She is there; underneath all of the hurt and pain; beyond the insecurities; move the jealousy, ok you're getting closer!

You know who she is deep down inside. Unfortunately you've spent most of your life hiding her or hiding from her. Why? Is she ugly or pretty? Inside or out? Good question. Is she skinny or fat? What is her educational background? Does it really matter?

She's waiting on you to dig deep and get her out.

Why is it so hard?

Why does she make you search?

Why does she scream so loud some days and others she's quiet?

Are you listening?

She's in no shame about her past. And wishes you could forgive yourself.

Her heart is pure and open to being Loved.

She's knows it wasn't her fault; she was only a little girl.

She know's the only reason she can talk about it is because of the healing she's received.

She remembers why she wore those types of clothes and how it made her feel when he looked at her with that look. Most importantly, she now knows WHY he made her feel so good.

Her ability to trust again seems weird, but she is enjoying the freedom.

Take another look at yourself & who you've become. Do you think she is proud of you?

Open your eyes, your heart, and all that is within you.

Look that way. Can't you see the path? There it is.

Start walking. Don't worry. It's all been mapped out for you and there's no way you can get lost.

Hold out your hand and give up that trust you hold onto so dearly.

Why are you doubting? It's already written in the plan.

Believe in Her, she's real. She's you.

You can't fight it. Or can you?

Have you been? Why?

Losing is not an option. You are not the one that has to fight.

I know you are tired of being hurt, crying at night, thinking about what happened, wondering why it's not happening. She knows, He knows!

Let go of you and take hold of HER. She's in HIM. Jesus!
